The Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs is a supervisory body of the Ministry of Interior of Republic of Latvia responsible for issue of identity documents and travel documents, maintenance of the Population Register, implementation of state migration policy, including development and implementation of repatriation and asylum policy. |
Residence permit Residence permit is a document ensuring the foreigner's rights to stay in the Republic of Latvia temporarily (temporary residence permits) or permanently (permanent residence permits). Repatriation A repatriate is a person who is a citizen of Latvia or one of whose parents or grandparents is a Latvian or a Liiv and who moves for permanent living to Latvia. Repatriation Division provides repatriates with information on the necessary documents and the order of submission, on possibilities to learn a suitable profession, to acquire education and improve the knowledge of Latvian, to receive medical care, to solve dwelling issues, to find an appropriate job, on the right to have a pension and allowances and on other issues. Visas and invitations Citizens of the countries having bilateral non-visa arrangements for entry into Latvia and USA and Vatican citizens do not need visas. Citizens of other countries need visa for entry into or transit through the territory of Latvia. Prior to entry into Latvia it is necessary to obtain a visa from a Latvian legation abroad. |
